FILTER CLOTH SPECIFICATIONS

Woven metal wire cloth has been used for filtration applications for years.  Filter Cloth mesh specifications offer improved results when used in liquid filtration applications.  Filter Cloth's unique geometry calls for two different

wire diameters; a heavier one to support the load in one direction and smaller running in the other direction driven

up close to each other to set the aperture size of the mesh.  The shape of the resulting opening is not a straight

through square opening as it is when using a Square Weave, the irregular shaped opening captures particles and allows for cleaning of the filter cloth. The different Filter Cloth weave types provide for different characteristics of

the mesh being considered.

Plain Dutch Weaves can handle high flow rates with relatively low pressure drop.  They are woven with each warp and shute wire passing over-and-under one wire.  The shute wires, however, are smaller in diameter than the warp wires and are driven close together to create a dense weave

The finest wire cloth particle size retention is achieved in Twill Dutch Weaves.  As the term Twill indicates, the warp and shute wires pass alternately over two and under two wires.  The term Dutch refers to the use of a heavier warp wire diameter and a lighter shute wire diameter.  There are two variations of this weave:  Twill Dutch Double Weave and Twill Dutch Single Weave.  The shute wires in a Twill Dutch Double Weave are positioned so close that there is always a shute wire above and below each warp wire.  This creates a weave completely covering the warp wires.  The resulting geometry of the flo-path is very tortuous, providing excellent particle size control.  In a Twill Dutch Single Weave the shute wires are not as close together as in the Twill Dutch Double.

The warp and shute wires are reversed from those in a Plain

Dutch Weave.  The warp wires have a smaller diameter than

the shute wires and touch each other, while the heavier shute

wires are woven as tightly as possible together
