| WIRE CLOTH MICRON RETENTION |
Newark Wire Cloth stocks thousands of wire cloth specifications in many different alloys. A few of the more commonly stocked specifications are noted in this chart. The wire mesh is detailed with respect to its wire diameter and opening size. The opening size is noted in microns and inches, when applicable. |
| WIRE CLOTH FLOW RATES |
To determine flow through a strainer, find the intersection of viscosity on the retention curve, and read down to the flow rate. Multiply the flow rate by the basket area. In many cases, the resulting flow rate will be greater than the actual process flow, resulting in a lower pressure drop. If more exacting data is required, please phone or send us your operating conditions by fax. Example: The flow rate through an S40 strainer…with a 30 CPS fluid and 104 micron basket…would be: 3 GPM/SQ IN. x 252 SQ IN. = 756 GPM. |
